This coming Sunday we will be gathering for worship on “The Barge” at 9am. We will be focusing our time on Mark 12.28-34. In this passage we are introduced to a scribe who is observing Jesus and his disciples. In his observation he asks a question regarding the greatest commandment. Jesus answers by referring to the Shema (Deuteronomy 6.4-9). It is interesting that in the Gospel of Mark the writer emphasizes that the Scribe acknowledges that Jesus is correct in his answer (v32). The Scribe goes on to say that our loving God with our entire being is better then “all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices” (v33). Let’s gather together and learn what it means for us to be a people that are known for our love of God that has overflowed out of our hearts.
